WEIRD duck zine is a biannual publication that provides space for queer and trans writers to delve into and express their perspectives on gender, sexuality, pleasure, and joy, particularly within the realms of KINK and BDSM.

Nonfiction is a vast and diverse genre, and we embrace its endless possibilities. We encourage you to be imaginative and playful when approaching and interpreting this form of writing. Whether it’s lyrical prose that flows like poetry, academic prose that delves deep into analysis, or conversational prose that feels intimate and familiar, we delight in the full spectrum of styles. Share your stories and ideas rooted in personal experience or intellectual curiosity, grounded in the tangible world and infused with embodied pleasure and authenticity.

At this moment, the world feels like it’s burning, and the constant stream of pain and despair from the news cycle can be overwhelming. We all need and deserve a moment to step back, catch our breath, and find solace in something that uplifts us. Let’s take this opportunity to craft something that radiates humanity, celebrates simple pleasures, and overflows with joy—something that reminds us of the beauty in staying connected and present with one another.

We are a paying market. Currently, WEIRD duck pays $10 for each published essay and provides a complimentary contributor copy of the print zine. Please submit nonfiction prose with a maximum word count of 2,000 words (this does not include references if applicable) via email. We kindly request that you refrain from submitting additional work until you receive our response regarding your initial submission.
