In nature, female ducks and other similar fowl have been observed changing sex, from female to male, after injury or disease to their single functioning ovary. Ducks are trans. How fucking cool.
Transformation from one state of being to another happens across the animal kingdom, and humans are no different. We’re just the lucky ones that decided to construct a collection of oppressive social systems that politicizes us at every turn for existing–excuse the digression. No matter, because we’ve always existed, since the dawn of civilization–since our ape brains could perceive gender as a concept, and that is just beautiful.
The experiences of queer and trans people is multiplicitous. We embody gender and transformative experience like no other and even more so when we engage discussions around sexuality and non-normative expressions of pleasure, desire, and joy.
WEIRD duck zine is here to explore the depths of gender and its role in sex and play, to navigate the contours of kink, BDSM, and power dynamics. However, that’s not all we’re interested in–let us revel in the joys that intimacies bring forth between us and the pleasures that being our authentic selves at our most vulnerable dispositions gift us.
